[Summary of the lecture] In this lecture, the importance of pharmaceutial and agrochemical sciences will be taught for the students who studied Advanced Organic Chemistry I - IV.
[Aim of the lecture] The stereochemistry is important in understanding biochemistry and essential to analyze the mechanism of various biologically activity of organic compounds. Students understand phenomena of optical and biologically activities of molecules and then the synthesis of biologically activite molecules based on the development of stereoselective organic reactions.
By the end of this course, students acquire the ability:
(1) Ability to explain the importance of pharmaceutials and agrochemicals.
(2) Ability to explain the molecular design of biologically active compounds.
(3) Ability to explain the development of stereoselective reactions for the synthesis of biologically active compounds.
pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, optical activity, biological activity, stereoselective reactions, physiological mechanisms
✔ Specialist skills | Intercultural skills | Communication skills | ✔ Critical thinking skills | ✔ Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
This lecture will proceed in the following order: (1) development of stereoselective synthetic reactions and synthesis of biological active molecules, (2) development of molecular probes and exploitation of the drug target, (3) natural products and development of bio-probes, (4) molecular biology and clinical medicine.
