“Introduction to Biotechnology” is intended as a course for students trying to understand the basic of bioprocess engineering. This course is composed of mainly three parts covering 1) microorganism, 2) basic techniques in genetic engineering, and 3) current advances in bioanalytical sciencies and technologies. The objective of this course is that students not only deepen the knowledge of bioprocess engineering field but also have interests in current advancements of this field, and feel close relationship between biology, chemistry, and engineering.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) overview microorganisms and its cultivation methods
2) summarize basic of gentic engineering
3) understand analytical technology in gene expression, protein expression, and protein interaction
4) understand the merit of utilization of microfabrication technologies and exhaustive analysis method using omics technologies
DNA, Protein, mRNA, Genetic engineering, Omics technology
