The conceptual process design is enforced by the interactive optimization of the process structural design and process parametric design for given process design specifications such as the reaction path, the site conditions, and the product conditions. In this course, practice of conceptual design of a commercial process for practical design specifications is enforced using a commercial process simulator of Aspen Hysys.
Process Design Practice I is focused attention to process structural design, and the plausible process structure is to be designed by performing modularizing process units, identifying the critical structural parameters, and evaluating the process structure recursively.
At the end of this course, students will be able to design the plausible process structure for given specification of conceptual process design. In order to design process structure, evolutional development of process structure with its performance evaluation using process simulation environment. It is also the purpose of this course to acquire the technique to apply process simulator.

Students are requireed to perform presentations on their block flow diagram level process design. Students' course scores are based on the logic for providing their block flow level process designs.
Knowledge and technology on unit operation of chemical engineering, usage of process simulator and the basis of process synthesis/design are indispensable.
