Professors provide students the newest developments in the category as well as papers or a text book in the lecture. Students should read and understand the contents of the papers. It is expected that students develop their skills in reading and understanding the newest developments in each category through discussions in seminars. These skills are necessary for students to carry out research after they finish the 3rd quarter.
The purpose of this course is to learn the skill of reading, understanding technical papers written in English at the forefront of chemical engineering. In addition, it is expected that students actively engage in discussions of new developments.

The field of chemical engineering is classified into three categories, i.e. process analysis, process design and process operation. Lectures include topics on each category and professors hold a seminar on papers every two weeks. After the lecture, students are given papers on the categories and they should read and understand the contents of the papers before the next seminar.
