[Summary of the course] In this course, mass spectrum, analysis based on excitation of electrons in atomic orbitals, single crystal X-ray structural analysis, and infrared spectroscopic analysis are explained.
[Aim of the course] Identification of compounds is essential for any field of chemistry. In this course, principles of the analytical methods and characterization of the analytical data are explained. Recent progress of the analytical techniques is also described.
By the end of this course, students acquire the following ability:
(1) Ability to explain the principles of the spectroscopic analyses.
(2) Ability to interpret the results of the spectroscopic analysis.
(3) Ability to explain recent progress on analytical techniques.
mass spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), electron probe X-ray microanalysis (EPMA), extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), single crystal X-ray structural analysis, infrared spectroscopy
