Course description and aims

The B2D scheme enables students to develop an individualized course of study tailored to meet their academic goals.
Students will:
*Initiate their research project in the fall semester of the second year of their bachelor’s program, at an earlier stage than usual at Tokyo Tech
*Compose and implement a customized study plan connecting undergraduate and graduate programs in a seamless manner
Students are expected to:
*Be proactive in pursuing their own goals
*Become doctoral graduates with a multidisciplinary perspective
*Play unique roles in society, transcending existing frameworks
Students must pass the B2D special selection to be admitted to study in this scheme.
B2D Research Basics allows the student to experience the following critical aspects of the research process, guiding them in developing their research theme:
1. Conducting a search of the literature, and becoming familiar with the field of research
2. Understanding principles of research ethics and safety
3. Learning basic research methods, and developing oral and written communication skills necessary to disseminate research findings

Student learning outcomes

B2D Research Basics will enable the student to:
1. Proactively develop specialized knowledge of the field, and identify research issues
2. Master basic principles of research ethics and safety
3. Acquire the basics of research, and develop oral and written communication skills necessary to disseminate research findings

Class flow

Classes will be held in the laboratory of the B2D academic supervisor. The B2D student and the academic supervisor will work together to develop a tailored study plan.
