【abstract】This class covers the fundamentals of non-ferrous metals and alloys (aluminum, titanium, magnesium, copper and their alloys). Student will learn history of development and usage of non-ferrous alloys, advanced processing for light weight and high strengthening materials (casting, forming and heat treatment), strengthening mechanism (work hardening, solid solution hardening, precipitation hardening, etc.), functional material and its application.
【objective】 Student will learn practical importance of non-ferros alloys to achieve fundamentals of material processing, strengthening mechanism, and functionalities of non-ferruos alloys.
The aim of this class is to study the fundamentals of non-ferrous metals in terms of processing (production, forming, heat treatment, etc.), strengthening mechanisms, electromagnetic properties related to microstructure.
The typical examples of commercial applications in aluminum, cupper, magnesium alloys are introduced in view of processing (casting, solidification, rolling, heat treatment), principle of strengthening mechanism (solid solution, precipitates and dispersion hardening), functional materials (shape memory alloy, biomedical alloy, electric and magnetic material).
