This course focuses on an important matter about biomaterials and basic knowledge of bioceramics, biopolymers and cells used in medical devices, regenerative medicine and drug delivery system. Biomaterial is an interdisciplinary field, and students need to understand each subject based on a common platform. The selection of materials starts development of medical devices, regenerative medicine and drug delivery systems, and thus students require to understand the properties of materials and cells composed of our tissues and organs.
The goal of this course is to understand fundamental concepts of medical devices, regenerative medicine and drug delivery systems, through the position of material engineering, based on reactivity and safety of biomaterials used in our body, and to explain interfacial interaction between biomaterials and cells.
Biomaterial, Regenerataive Medicine, Drug Delivery System, Bioceramcs, Biopolymers
