Course description and aims

Interfacial phenomena and colloid are important items associated with almost all of the daily life and industrial fields, such as organic, inorganic, polymer, biomaterials, and so on. To understanding the colloids and interfacial science, wide knowledge such as thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, and spectroscopy is required. This lecture starts from the basic question "what is colloid and interface?" and explain a lot of interfacial phenomena with the thoeries.

Student learning outcomes

This lecture gives...
-understanding various kinds of colloids and interface phenomena using physical chemistry
-knowledge about the industrial application of the interfacial phenomena.
-how to use the knowledge for material design.

Keywords

Colloid, Suspension, Interface, Self-assembly, Adsorption
