Course description and aims

This course intends to promote understanding of the relationship between material characteristics and the function though disassembly of daily products. Special talks about the material characteristics by staffs will lead you further understanding of the material design. Also, the students will be a small group, and will investigate and researchtheir own issues concerning the process of creating science and technology by teachers. In addition, discuss the issues and report the results.

Student learning outcomes

By studying this lecture, you learn what kind of materials your personal products are med up, understand the importance of lectures you will learn at university, and train communication and presentation skills through group work. Also through task investigation, the students understand how to set research subjects in material science and engineering.

Keywords

Fundamental knowledge, technology and research subjects required for material science and engineering

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

In this course, the students are divided into two groups (A or B), and working on “disassembly” and “task investigation”, respectively. In “disassembly”, products are disassembled in each group, and “task investigation” surveies and studies the given tasks by yourself.
