Through onsite surveys and literature reviews of environmental problems abroad, students gain a better understanding of the issue with cultural and social background, consider countermeasures, and present the results, thereby enhancing the formation of an international perspectives and linguistic skills. In this course, a research project is established after consultations between the academic supervisor and the student, and accordingly students go through overseas training of one week or longer, or alternatively work on a case study. After completing overseas trainings or the case studies, students compile and submit reports according to a prescribed format. Finally, students present the results of their overseas trainings or case studies in English at the presentation session of international environment case studies.
Students will enhance the following by the end of this course.
1) Professional expertise, international perspectives and communication skills to participate in trainings abroad or to conduct alternative case studies.
2) The abilities to write reports and make presentations of the results of their case studies on the international environment in English.

Research plans are made under guidance of the instructors and in consultation with the academic supervisor. Students then take part in actual overseas trainings or case studies, and finally compile results reports in English and present them orally at a results reporting session.

You must be a master's degree program student enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering. However, students enrolled in Department of Environmental Science and Technology cannot take this course.
