This lecture will be focused on the basic and advanced organic synthesis.
The former (lectured by Inoue) will mainly cover the synthesis of organo fine chemicals including drugs, agrochemicals, liquid crystals, and functionalized compounds. With studying C-C bond formation reactions and functional group transformations, students will understand the reaction mechanism and the reaction intermediate and learn how to draft the synthetic plan for target molecules.
The latter (lectured by Matsukawa) will deal with organic polymers by some polymerization methods. Furthermore, this lecture will present the preparation and properties of organic-inorganic hybrids and their applications.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
１）understand organic reactions based on the reaction intermediate and the reaction mechanism.
２）draft the synthetic plan toward organo fine chemicals.
３）understand organic polymers with polymerization methods and design for new functional materials.
４）understand the basic and advancement of organic-inorganic hybrids.

In the first half of the class, a summary of the previous lecture followed by the main points of the day’s lecture posed as questions are given. In the latter half, these main points are discussed in detail. Students are asked to provide solutions to some of the questions that have been posed as necessary.
