Medical system is essential for our health and lives. Especially, medical imaging system which can create non-invasively images of inside our bodies is remarkable. In this course, you will learn about ultrasound, X-ray, X-ray CT, MRI, PET, and OCT. Fundamental skills about medical imaging system, elemental technical, clinical applications will be obtained.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Acquire knowledge related to the fundamentals of the medical imaging systems.
2) Acquire knowledge related to the practical use and application of the medical imaging system and ability to identify challenges.
MRI, Radiography, X-ray CT, Gamma Camera, SPECT, PET
✔ Specialist skills | Intercultural skills | Communication skills | Critical thinking skills | Practical and/or problem-solving skills |
Every class has a lecture. After attending the class, students are expected to review the contents of the class. Attendance is taken in every class.
Course schedule | Required learning | |

Class 6 | Ultrasonic array transducer and high intensity ultrasound | Understanding characteristics of beam profile in ultrasonic transducer as well as high intensity ultrasonic field. |
Class 7 | Optical coherence tomography and other optical methods | Understanding basic principles of optical coherence tomography and other optical methods. |
To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend approximately 100 minutes preparing for class and another 100 minutes reviewing class content afterwards (including assignments) for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
None required.
All materials used in class can be found on T2SCHOLA.
Students will be assessed on their understanding of the medical imaging modarities and those clinical usage.
Students’ course scores are based on class reports (50%) and final report (50%).
