After reviewing mobile communications and cellular phone system, the lecture details and considers several techniques from the viewpoint of frequency efficiency. Then channel models of radio wave propagations, physical layer radio transmission technologies, radio access technologies, and radio system technologies are described. Furthermore, the lecture aims to make students deeply understand overall mobile communication systems, which ranges from the physical layer to networks and application layers such as services.
Mobile communications have played an important role in largely expanded communication networks. Major aims of this lecture are as follows:
1) To be able to understand the whole system of mobile communications.
2) To be able to comprehend fundamentals and latest trends of radio access techniques, system techniques and network techniques for mobile communications.
3) To be able to comprehend fundamentals and latest trends of mobile terminals and applications.
4) To be able to trace future trends of mobile communications.
