Course description and aims

This course gives an overview of national policy trends related to information and communication (international strategy, research and development, standardization, infrastructure development, competition policy, radio wave allocation policy, etc.), information and communications industry (telecommunications business, broadcasting industry, CATV business, contents industry, advertising, etc.), and the required legal system for engineers, and reveals the challenges and strategies of information and communication policy in general, including technology development.
This course has two aims. The first is to understand the fundamental political knowledge, and challenges of the information and communications industry you should know when you work there. The other is to polish abilities to be quarified as a leader in near future by training the basic ability to select own action to be taken while anticipating the entire trends of information and communications industry.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to
1) Know the national policy trends related to information and communications, and foresee the trend of the future of information and communication.
2) Understand the challenges of the industry, and recognize what is the important technology development for engineers.
3) Choose their own action to be taken after thinking the case from various perspective.
