Course description and aims

This course focuses on fundamentals of human sensation/perception. Through experiments, concerning psychopysics measurement, biometrics, human sensation and perception, design and implementation techniques of signal processing
and embedded system are also given.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to understand fundamentals fo human sensation, design and
implementation techniques of signal processing and embedded systems.

Keywords

Human information processing, biometrics and human sensation measuring, embedded system, IoT, system development

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

Students participate series of experiments and summarize these results. Team-based project is organized to resolve assigned tasks, and the presentations of the results are evaluated.

Class 4 Cooperation of multiple embedded microcomputer systems Summarize the results
Class 5 Team-project on design and implementation of IoT embedded system 1 Design and implementation of IoT embedded system
Class 6 Team-project on design and implementation of IoT embedded system 2 Implementation of IoT embedded system(cont.) and summarizing results of the developed system
Class 7 Assessment for team-project of the system development Presentation of the team-project work and reviewing learned contents

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend a certain length of time outside of class on preparation and review (including for assignments), as specified by the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Undergraduate Learning (東京工業大学学修規程) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Graduate Learning (東京工業大学大学院学修規程), for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
