This class is only available for IGP(A) students.
A student goes to an university or institute or industry or organization outside Japan to undergo a research or development project to acquire abilities or skills for international communication, problem setting and solving, project management.

A student goes to an university or institute or industry or organization outside Japan to undergo a research or development project. The student must give a presentation about the research or development project after return. Give a presentation about the research or development project after return.

Class 1 Applicants select desired area of Special Visiting Project (selection can be from the list supplied by Career Information Office(就職事務室) or a specific wish of an individual). Students of former SEP: As usually required, 3months of working days are required to be allotted credits None
Class 2 Students fill out “Special Visiting Project Plan Form”, submit it to supervisor and discuss the contents. Supervisor (following the evaluation criteria below) determines whether application can be allowed. Once the Special Visiting Project plan is approved, supervisor notifies student. -Whether the applicant obtains practical industry skills and experience -Whether the applicant can apply the knowledge acquired through System Control curriculum during the Special Visiting Project -Whether the experience be helpful in planning applicant’s future career -With the exception of commuting allowance, any paid Special Visiting Project application will not be considered -In case of simultaneous application for participation in an ‘international project course’ in the same area as the Special Visiting Project application, the latter will not be considered None
Class 3 Students submit “Special Visiting Project participant application form”, obtained from either Career Information Office(就職事務室) or internship curator(インターンシップ担当教員), to Career Information Office(就職事務室) (in case of application by referral – after an interview with supervisor, in case of application for publically advertised position – after notification of acceptance), at least three weeks before the starting day of the Special Visiting Plan. If the notification of acceptance from the place of Special Visiting Project does not arrive by that time, students should submit the form as soon as possible, upon receiving the notification. Class 4 In case of application by referral, application is made via Career Information Office. If required, the Office will help confirm the project duration and content with the place of Special Visiting Project. None
Class 5 The Office confirms details, such as insurance. In case of application with an overseas entity, the Office must notify to the Education Board. The member of Education board prepares a contract with the Special Visiting Project destination entity. None
Class 6 The Office contacts Special Visiting Project destination entity and requests the preparation of Special Visiting Project contract and memorandum. None
Class 7 Students upload completed Special Visiting Project plan form to their Portfolio. None
Class 8 Upon the approval of Special Visiting Project contract between the University and the destination entity, students sign and seal “manifest of commitment” (履修契約書) at the Office. None
Class 9 In general, steps 1-8 must be completed before the commencement of Special Visiting Plan. None
Class 10 Students proceed with the project. None
Class 11 Students claim academic credits for the quarter in which they report the results of the project. None
Class 12 Upon the project completion students fill Special Visiting Project report form and upload it to their Portfolio. Same form is submitted to Supervisor and Deputy Academic Advisor via email, and presented at a meeting with the Supervisor (7 min. presentation, 3 min. Q&A) None
Class 13 Supervisor determines the number of allotted credits and the passing/failing grade, based on students’ reports. Passing/failing grade is confirmed with Deputy Academic Advisor. None
Class 14 Supervisor submits the passing/failing grade to the ‘Web Service for Students and Faculty’. None

Out-of-Class Study Time (Preparation and Review)

To enhance effective learning, students are encouraged to spend a certain length of time outside of class on preparation and review (including for assignments), as specified by the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Undergraduate Learning (東京工業大学学修規程) and the Tokyo Institute of Technology Rules on Graduate Learning (東京工業大学大学院学修規程), for each class.
They should do so by referring to textbooks and other course material.
