Course description and aims

Advanced Bioscience and Biotechnology (Tsinghua University) is for students in Tokyo Tech-Tsinghua Joint Graduate Program. This course will be offered in Tsinghua of Beijing.
Through introductions to the researches of Tokyo Tech and Tsinghua University teaching staffs, students are instructed on methods for discovering research topics, experiment design, and methods for evaluating results. Furthermore, the desire to pursue the truth through research, and to contribute to society is created.

Student learning outcomes

Students will acquire the following skills by taking this course.
1) Learn the interests and research topics of each teaching staff
2) Acquire methods for discovering research topics
3) Select research methods and learn about experiment design
4) Learn trends in related fields
5) Acquire methods for objectively evaluating research results

Class flow

Every year multiple Tokyo Tech teaching staffs are sent to Tsinghua University, where the teaching staffs from both universities combine the lectures. Each teaching staff introduces details from his/her own research such as setting the topic, trends in related fields, research techniques, and the potential of the research. Problems are assigned as necessary, and a deeper understanding of each research project is achieved by solving them.
