This course focuses on the experience of the literacy of the mechanical engineering through problems such as disassembling of a machine. Topics include the basics of fundamental mechanisms, structure, manufacturing process, design, control. Students will learn actual mechanical systems through construction or assembling of various kinds of machinery including a hydraulic pump and internal combustion engines and the line tracer. Students will be divided into three groups, and the subject of each group will change every two weeks.
【Line tracer fabrication】 A simple line tracer which is controlled by the Arduino microcomputer will be fabricated to acquire the construction skill of an electrical circuit.
【Internal combustion engines】 A small gasoline engine used in a transportation machine will be disassembled, investigated to understand the internal combustion engines system, and assembled to operate. To assemble, each tool name and their directions for usage will be learned. 【Hydraulic pump】 A hydraulic pump used in construction machineries will be disassembled, investigated to understand the hydraulic system and its mechanism, and assembled to operate. Each component name and their function for the operation will be learned.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1)Explain the basic electrical circuit to control mechanical system.
2)Fabricate the circuit to control the mechanical system using microcomputers by mounting technology such as soldering.
3)Explain the rough outline of the gasoline engine as internal combustion engines.
4)Understand fundamental tool names and the directions for use
5)Explain the principle of operation of hydraulic pump.
6)Understand basic oil pressure piston pump and explain their components.

Students' knowledge of basic mechanical systems and their components will be assessed. To obtain skill, positive attitude is also required.
Practical skill and their results and Report.
If misconduct, such as plagiarism or misappropriation of someone else's work is committed, we will treat it strictly: The grade of the subject will be 0.
Students must have successfully completed mechanical engineering literacy (GRD.R101,GRD.R102,GRD.R103, GRD.R104) or have equivalent knowledge. Because of the limit of the number of devices, a student of the mechanical engineering department can take this course with priority when the number of students is greater than the number of machine.
