Course description and aims

To obtain the optimum shape and function at research or creative works, students in this course will work to learn processing machines and its safety use.

Student learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1)Be able to use the processing machines such as milling machine, lathe, drill press, band saw laser material processing machines appropriately, and to obtain objective shape.
2)Be able to judge a optimum shape by the use of measurement equipments .
3)Be able to do emergency coping such as the operation of the fire extinguisher.

Keywords

Machine tools、Safty use on processing machines, Measurements, Operation of the fire extinguisher

Competencies that will be developed

Specialist skills Intercultural skills Communication skills Critical thinking skills Practical and/or problem-solving skills

Class flow

The course is centered on practical training in groups of 7 -8 people. Each group will learn processing methods, the use of measurement equipments, operation of the fire extinguisher. In addition, students will learn that safe procedure, and the predicted risks. And students will also learn about the emergency actions to be taken.

Prerequisites (i.e., required knowledge, skills, courses, etc.)

Students must have successfully completed both Introduction to Mechanical Systems (MEC.Q201.R) and Mechanical Engineering Literacy (GRD.R101,GRD.R102,GRD.R103, GRD.R104) and Creative Design of Mechanical Systems(MEC.Q301.R)or have equivalent knowledge. Because of the limit of the number of devices, a student of the Mechanical Engineering can take this course with priority when the number of students is greater than the number of machine.
