Course description and aims

Mechanism design of the movable part of the bending machine, assembly drawing, a parts drawing are studied. Design calculation of a development and drafting are performed to produce a cover of a motor section by sheet metal bending. Bending of sheet metal is different from folding a paper. It is due to the thickness and curvature of metal sheet. The design need to be carried out with various considerations such as margins. So, it is consistent from a design to processing, and a whole design-drafting-processing is mastered.

Student learning outcomes

Arrival target is to develop the knowledge obtained through “MEC.H201: Machine Elements and Machine Drawing”, “MEC.H212: Fundamentals of Machine Design and Drawing”, and learn various points to take care when it actually connects to the processing, and to acquire the design method of basic machine element and a mechanical drawing.
Theme of this lecture is to learn the basics of sheet metal processing, to design a sheet metal processing and a cover of motor as an example, to make a development and etc. using CAD/CAM and to obtain the understanding of the basics of the relation between design, drawing and processing through the sheet metal processing.
