This course focuses on manufacturing systems that are essential for modern society. A manufacturing system consists of many technical elements such as machine tools, industrial robots, inspection system, software, process planning. This course introduces these technical elements to understand manufacturing systems.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Have an understanding of principal elements of a manufacturing system.
2) Explain functions of a manufacturing system.
3) Have an understanding of improvement methods to realize higher performance.
manufacturing, process planning, machine tool, CAD/CAM, robot
