Course description and aims

　Students will practice studio works including problem-findings, problem-structuring, basic information acquisition, and elementary planning proposal.
The aims of the studio works is to learn basic standard works for community planning through discussion with stakeholders, surveys and analysis of local areas.

Student learning outcomes

Students are expected to obtain the following abilities:
1) way of brain-storming and discussion
2) problem structuring and KJ method
3) ways of obtaining basic information related to community planning
4) proposal towards problem solving

Class flow

The 1st half of the studio will be spent for local problem-findings practices based on individual work. Two localities are given and for each locality students have a lecture, experience a field trip, and give a presentation. The 2nd half of the studio work consists of individual and group works and students are to analyze basic characteristics of the area and to structure local problems and finally to make a planning proposal.

Assessment criteria and methods

Evaluated by presentation and requirements at mid-term and final presentations. Presentation will be evaluated by contents (50%) and visual skill (50%).
