This course focuses on planning and designing urban/transportation infrastructure. It covers the fundamentals skills about presentation explaining significance and reasonableness of the projects, design of infrastructures, and logical evaluation of the projects considering various stakeholders and elements.
This course consists of lectures and a group work. In a group work, each group deals with a topic about transit planning, and urban planning of certain local regions. Each group creates planning/designing alternatives, and conducts evaluation of alternatives. Students report their achievement by mid-term/final presentations, reports, and deliverable.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1) Have an understanding of fundamental skills of project management.
2) Produce a report of the projects which includes logical explanation and evaluation based on findings.
3) Have skills of identifying issues of a project and proposing alternatives.
4) Have an understanding of logical evaluation of the projects considering various stakeholders and elements.
5) Acquire the oral competence necessary to make presentations in Japanese, articulate views/ideas/findings, etc., and debate effectively.

This course consists of lectures and group works. In a group work, students are required to conduct literature review, on-site review/survey, planning/designing alternatives, and evaluation of alternatives. Students report their achievement by mid-term/final presentations, reports, and deliverable. Attendance is taken in every class.
