Course description and aims

This course focuses on cosmochemistry following the textbook "Treatise on Geochemistry". The basic knowledge about the origin and evolution of the solar system. In the second half of the course, students will make presentations regarding the topics below;
1) Formation of the solar system
2) Presolar world
3) Meteoirtics
4) Chondrites and their components
5) Early solar system chronology
6) Moon, Mars
7) IDPs, Comets

At the end of this course, students will be able to understand:
1) origin of the solar system
2) meteorites and their application
3) dating of extraterrestrial materials
4) origin of planets

Assessment criteria and methods

Students will be assessed on their understanding of the geochemical application of extraterrestrial materials.
Students' course scores are based on discussion during the class (30%) and group presentation (70%).
