Course description and aims

Earth and planetary science is an interdisciplinary field, and graduates of Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences are expected not only to be active in various fields but also to teach younger people in society. In this course, students will make and carry out a plan for the development of their teaching skills by themselves.

By the end of this course, students will be able to enhance their teaching skills by their own learning program.

Class flow

Students will make and carry out a learning program by themselves. Self-motivating approach is the key of this course.

Class 1 The course will follow the procedure; 1) students submit learning programs to a subject teacher at the beginning of the quarter 2) students carry out the programs by themselves during the quarter 3) students submit reports to the subject teacher by the end of the quarter 4) the subject teacher assesses the students' attitude and achievements based on the report Examples of the programs: - learn teaching skills by supporting undergraduate courses and master's seminar as an assistant - participate in training seminar related with teaching and education To make a plan by oneself, carry out it, and enhance teaching skills

Assessment criteria and methods

Students' attitude and achievements in enhancing their teaching skills will be assessed by reports (100%).
