Course description and aims

This course is designed for students with work experience as a working adult who have acquired the Graduate Attributes (GAs) that doctoral students are required to fulfill through their experience and actual work activities (including those at past employers) as a working adult at companies, etc. (including those continuing to the present). The course certifies that the student has already acquired the Graduate Attributes (GA) that doctoral students are required to fulfill, based on his or her work experience (including ongoing work experience at past employers), and the student is awarded credits and GAs (GA0D and GA1D).
In view of the content of the GA, students who have at least five years of work experience (or at least three years for those who have completed a master's degree) in a company, etc., are required to take the course in principle. However, this does not apply to those who have less than five years of work experience, if they are considered to have experience and achievements that meet the GA requirements.
The maximum number of credits that can be obtained through the doctoral recurrent training is 4 credits in total. It is possible to obtain a total of 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Training 1 and 3, 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Training 2-1 and 2-2, 4 credits for Doctoral Recurrent Training 4, and so on. In such cases, the experience and accomplishments for each course must be different.

Student learning outcomes

Students with work experience as a working adult can earn credits by having courses, etc. certify that they have already acquired the GAs that doctoral students must meet, based on their past and current work experience and achievements in work activities.
GA0D: To be able to contribute to the realization of innovation with a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge, skills, social responsibilities, ethics, etc. required to clearly design one's own career and to be active as a member of academia and industry.
GA1D: To be able to lead innovation by acquiring the advanced leadership, entrepreneurial, knowledge and skills, social responsibility, ethics, etc. necessary to realize the career they have designed for themselves.

Competencies that will be developed

Class flow

The student's experience and achievements (including those at past employers) in previous work activities as a working adult (including those that have continued to the present). The student shall confirm in advance with his/her advisor the policy on the preparation of documents objectively proving that the student has already fulfilled GA0D and GA1D and the number of credits to be earned through the experience and achievements of the student. Examples of experiences and achievements that may be considered for credit in this course are as follows.
・Leadership experience in the organization and subordinates in business, etc. within the company
・Achievements in leading standardization-related activities (*)
・Experience in leading planning and operation of events that can be presented externally
・Experience in leading presentations at academic conferences (*)
・Past academic conference activities, international conference organizing committee members, etc.
・Leading authorship of journal articles (*)
・Leading authorship of reviews, commentary articles, etc. (*)
・Leading patent applications (*)
(*) Do not take the same course as the "Seminar" course.
Based on the above confirmation with the academic advisor, the student should prepare documents and submit them to the course via the academic advisor. In doing so, the student should not only describe his/her experience and achievements, but also explain in detail how he/she has acquired each of the GA0D and GA1D items in his/her experience and achievements.
The materials should be submitted to the course via the student's faculty advisor. The course will approve the credits earned and the number of credits to be earned in this course based on the materials submitted by the student.
If the student is approved for the credits earned and the number of credits to be earned in this course, the student shall submit a course registration report at the most recent Q for which a course registration can be submitted. Thereafter, the course grade report will be made based on the said approval.
Students who wish to enroll in this course should make sure to do so as early as possible to allow enough time for the course to be approved.

Assessment criteria and methods

The course will approve the credits earned and the number of credits to be earned through this course based on whether or not it is objectively recognized that the student has already mastered the specific items of GA0D and GA1D based on the data submitted by the student regarding his/her experience and achievements as a member of society.
This course will not be graded on the basis of points, but on a pass/fail basis.
