This course provides fundamentals of the radiation heat exchange between surfaces, the formula of radiative transfer in participating media, the thermal radiation properties of real gases and the formula of electromagnetic wave theory for thermal radiation transfer. Near-Field and Far-Field radiation transfers are also included through practical and idealized examples in energy conversion and microscopic measurement.
This course aims at understanding the radiative transfer in participating media and electromagnetic wave theory for radiation, and furthermore aims at application of the knowledge for control of radiative heat exchange and measurement.
Through this course, students will understand the effects of radiation heat exchange in combined heat transfer with conduction and convection heat transfer and obtain basic ability to evaluate heat flux.
