Course description and aims

In this course, students pursue long term projects (around one month) at foreign universities or research institutes. This course aims cultivation of wide view and rich communication abilities by conducting research activity in different environments from Tokyo Tech, and this internship also cultivate students’ understanding of team-diversity importance.

Student learning outcomes

Students will acquire the following ability, as a leader of professional fields.
1) Ability to solve the emerged issues and to propose creative ideas by use of the professional knowledge.
2) Ability to conduct research with global awareness of the research and development trends.
3) Ability of communication to conduct smooth research and development with sufficient mutual understanding.
4) Ability to explain concepts logically, develop arguments, and put them in writing.

Class flow

Class flow will be determined through discussions between a student and the host organization. Planning should be documented before the internship. Reporting is required either by document or by presentation after the internship.

Assessment criteria and methods

Specifics of the assessment criteria and methods, being in accordance with the student learning outcomes 1)-4), will be determined prior to the start of the course.
Students must submit the study abroad report to the academic supervisor and Energy Science and Engineering Course. The supervisor will evaluate it with the assessment criteria.
