This course focuses on the electrochemical theory required to understand the operation of power devices such as batteries and fuel cells, and analytical devices such as chemical sensors. Topics include varous ac/dc electrochemical techniques, materials used for the construction of electrochemical devices, theory and analytical methods of power strage batteries as well as fuel cells. By combining lectures and exercises, the course enables students to understand and acquire the fundamentals of electrochemical concepts widely applicable to above mentioned devises.
By the end of this course, students will able to:
1) Explain electrochemical reactions and analytical techniques applied to power strage devices and chemical sensors.
2) Explain the features and applications of each electrochemical device.
3) Explain chemical structure and phisicochemical properties of materials used for electrochemical devices.

Individual topics will be lectured. Towards the end of class, if needed, students are given exercise problems related to the lecture given that day to solve. To prepare for class, students should read the course schedule section and check what topics will be covered. Required learning should be completed outside of the classroom for preparation and review purposes.
