Mathematical Science is an interdisciplinary field, and graduates of Dept. of Mathematics are expected to be active in various fields in society. For these purposes, it is indispensable to develop skills to plan their own career and transmit their research results to society. In this course, students will make and carry out a plan for the development of these skills by themselves.
By the end of this course, students will be able to enhance their career development skills by their own learning program.
|Intercultural skills||Communication skills||Specialist skills||Critical thinking skills||Practical and/or problem-solving skills|
Students will make and carry out a learning program by themselves. Self-motivating approach is the key of this course.
|Course schedule||Required learning|
|Class 1||The course will follow the procedure: 1) students carry out the programs by themselves during the quarter. 2) students submit reports to the subject teacher by the end of the quarter. 3) the subject teacher assesses the students' attitude and achievements based on the report. Examples of the programs: - participate seminars or colloquiums for mathematical researchers including non-experts of the topics. - participate the presentation meeting held at the end of the first year. - plan and organize an outreach activity to give research results back to a community.||To make a plan by oneself, carry out it, and enhance career development skills|
Students' attitude and achievements in enhancing their career development skills will be assessed by reports (100%)
