This course addresses research issues related to materials and information in the design of functional materials and optimization of manufacturing processes in companies, and is essential for research and development by experiencing research actually performed in companies. This course aim to develop problem solving skills and communication skills.
The purpose of this course will be to acquire the ability to solve problems on research and development by understanding the technical background of a given problem, using modeling and simulation of phenomena, and information processing technology in solving essential problems required by companies.
materials and informatics; modeling; computer simulation; material design
|✔ Communication skills
|✔ Critical thinking skills
|✔ Practical and/or problem-solving skills
Students will stay for about 6 weeks in the company, participate in research and development of documents using data analysis, data processing and simulation with company employees, propose solutions, and give a final presentation.
|1) Set up research solution issues in a company. 2) Conduct a literature review and data analysis on the technical background of the issues. 3) In the solution of the problem, perform modeling and simulation on selection of chemical substance or material type. 4) Based on the results of 2) and 3), students will propose a solution to the problem in R & D. 5) Students will present the final results of 4).
|Student will submit a report on the research issues that need to be resolved and the problem solutions.
Distribute in the class
Regarding the degree of achievement of the goal, the presentation on research and development on problem solution in the company will be evaluated the contents of the presentation of results and the contents of questions and answers.
Take classes of both Practice School in Materials Informatics I and II.
If only one is taken, the other credit have to be already acquired.
