Course description and aims

Off-campus education lets students try out the skills and knowledge in the real world that they have been learning through training education at the Academy for Global Leadership and through specialized education in their graduate majors. Students will recognize what skills and knowledge are useful for, and whatthey need to learn more. Off-campus internships,the foundational part, allow students to participate in practical projects in Japanese or foreign companies or research institutes generally for 3 months or longer. This initiative allows students to achieve something socially meaningful.
By taking this course, students collaborate with members of Japanese or foreign companies or research institutes on projects relevant to the real world. Students gain experience involving clients and exhibiting leadership.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
(1) complete projects relevant to the real world and achieve meaningful results.
(2) collaborate with members of Japanese or foreign companies or research institutes, and exhibit leadership.

Class flow

For the off-campus project, students work on practical projects generally for at least 3 months at the internship host organizations. The contents and methods vary by projects, and they are conducted in consultation with the instructor and internship supervisors. Students must report in writing on the progress status of the projects every month, and after completion they must hold a report session.

Assessment criteria and methods

Students will be assessed on the achievement of the learning outcomes such as the accomplishment of the society-oriented project, achievement of valuable results, and leadership shown in the project in collaboration with the members of host company/institution.

Students must have successfully completed either of the AGL Off-campus Project: Introduction A - D.

Other

Because the period of project is relatively long, students must consult with the supervisor in the major field beforehand, and must do time management by themselves so as not to disturb the progress in the research work.
