Outline of lecture

This course aims to deepen the students understanding of the actual system of Japanese companies and industries through a series of study tours and lectures given by the staffs and the graduates of Tokyo Tech who work for Japanese companies and related organizations.
Participating students are encouraged to ask questions to the staff during the QA session in each lecture/visit but please refrain from asking questions which may sound rude to them.
Students are expected to submit a short report after each visit/lecture and a final report on the Japanese companies and industries at the end of this course.

Purpose of lecture

Plan of lecture

M: April 8 (Wed) 15:05 ~ 15:30 Briefing on the outline and requirement of the course at Room W331, 3rd floor of West Bldg. 3.

T: April 30 (Thu) 13:10 ~ 16:30 Visit to Shibuya Incineration Plant (Wednesday窶冱 classes will be held on this day)
We will go there by train. Gather at the entrance of O-okayama station at 13:10. Train fee is 195 yen (one way).

T: May 15 (Fri.) 12:15~18:00, Visit to JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) Tsukuba Space Center
Leave O-okayama campus by chartered bus (Gather at the bus parked in front of West Bldg. 9 at 12:20)

There is no specific textbook in this course.

The following students have priority in participation.
1. YSEP students.
2. Tokyo Tech master course regular students

Evaluation

Class Participation 40%, Short reports 30%, Report 30%
1. Class attendance: attendance is expected at all tours and meeting, and at least three lectures.
2. Short reports after the lectures:
Students are requested to write a short report (quiz) by the given sheet just after each lecture.
3. Reports on the study tours:
Students are requested to submit a report after each study tour.
No fixed form for the report but the length of report on the tour should be in 1 A4 page in English and be submitted to the TA within one week after each tour.
It should be sent with the title 窶彝eport _ the tour place_ your student number and name窶 to the following e-mail address:
