講義概要

This project-based course explores current social, ethical and cultural issues in science and technology around the world. The focus is on developing skills in critical thinking and debating from multiple viewpoints, exploring different perspectives around the world. Using materials collected by students, the ‘socio-technical’ issues of the day are examined closely. Participation in lunchtime “Think Aloud Lunch” sessions is required, emphasising cross-cultural understanding and discussion skills. In class, students select one theme to study in depth and develop a group presentation detailing its differing viewpoints.
