This course focuses on delivering a well-framed academic presentation, preparing students for national and international conferences.
Objectives include learning the necessary tools to make an effective presentation, while preparing mentally and physically for the presentation and the Q&A section. In class, we will watch and listen to a variety of orators, discussing pros and cons of the delivery and speech format. Furthermore, students will deliver multiple presentations throughout the semester and peer-critique each other’s performance. By the end of this course, students will be able to deliver a skillfully constructed academic presentation in a comfortable manner. Moreover, students will be able to use effective transition words and properly cite their sources.
