講義概要

This course will provide students at the graduate level with the basic skills required to produce well-structured and effectively written research papers. The research paper sections for which structure, appropriate grammar and vocabulary will be addressed on the basis of models and published articles include the introduction, methodology, results, discussion/conclusion and abstract. Referencing and footnote writing will also be addressed.

We will work toward improving your academic English-writing skills in the following areas:

• Structuring your papers so as to accord with international academic English norms
• Vocabulary and expression in each of the standard sections of a paper
• Abstracts for your papers and short descriptions of projects for scholarship and other applications
• Referencing and footnoting
