This course aims to teach the basic concepts, tools and theories needed for strategic management of technology. The topics covered include, innovation models, sectoral models of innovation, technological competence building, technological diversification strategy, technology portfolio management, strategic alliances,management of research and development and globalization strategy. Students are assessed by class participation, group presentation, debate and several quiz.

Purpose of lecture

This course aims to teach the basic concepts, tools and theories underlying strategic management of technology. The topics covered include, innovation models, sectoral models of innovation, Porter's model, strategic planning process, technological competence building, technological diversification strategy, management of research and development, research evaluation, globalization, innovation in services.
