This course aims to teach the basic concepts, tools and theories needed for strategic management of technology. The topics covered include, innovation models, sectoral models of innovation, technological competence building, technological diversification strategy, technology portfolio management, strategic alliances and management of research and development. Students are assessed by class participation, individual presentations, group work, debate and end of term report.

Purpose of lecture

This course aims to teach the basic concepts, tools and theories underlying strategic management of technology. The topics covered include, innovation models, sectorial models of innovation, strategic planning process, technological competence building, technological diversification strategy, management of strategic alliances, management of research and development and product platform strategy.
