Outline of lecture

This course requires to survey historical trend, current status, and future perspectives of demand/supply of energy/electricity and energy policy in several countries including Japan, then construct an electricity supply scenario without nuclear power in 2030 via group works, through which information as well as opinion are aggregated to be presented in English.

Purpose of lecture

The purpose of this lecture is to grow ability and skills in communication and in presentation by the group works and by the three-time presentations, respectively. Through this lecture, basic knowledge and information about energy policy as well as energy structure are also learnt.

Plan of lecture

This course is organized from six-time lectures, four-time group works with three-time presentations, and one-time site-visiting for energy supply facilities.
[Lecture] Information and knowledge, such as energy demand/supply, energy policy, and environmental impacts that are required in the group works are provided in the lectures. Three time special lectures are provided by external professionals.
[group work] All the students are divided into six groups, which are allocated to one for Germany, China, Thailand, and Indonesia, and two for Japan. Teachers and foreign students are supervised to support group works by students.
[sites-visit] A site-visit for energy supply facilities is planned. The facilities are wind firm (Yokohama Minato Mirai), waste power (Tsurumi), and advanced LNG power (Kawasaki). Outline of each facility are explained by staffs in each facility.

Evaluation are given by attending to lectures (14 times), presentation (3), reporting (1), and questions (3).
[Attendance] 28 points シ14 classesテ2points/class at maximum. Evaluation is done by multiplying attendance percentage. This is accounted as personal points.
[Presentation] 42 points シ7 presentersテ6 points/presenters. Each presentation is evaluated from 0 to 2 by the three faculty members, in terms of contents, story, clearness, structure, and duration time of the presentations. This is group points.
[Reporting] 12 points, evaluated from 0 to 4 by the three faculty members, which is group points
[Questions] 18 points is given to whom makes questions to the presentations, evaluated from 0 to 2 by the three faculty members. This is personal points.
[Total] 100 points is consisted from 46 (28+18) personal points plus 54 (42+12) group points.
