Outline of lecture

The first half of this lecture provides the fundamentals of urban environmental problems, including the heat island effect, and explains actual states of urban and regional environments in our country using remote sensing technique and GIS (Geographic Information System). In the second half, prediction and evaluation methods for urban and built environments are explained in order to understand effective solutions to thermal problems and environmental design for comfortable urban spaces. We discuss what we should do for our urban environments through this lecture.
