Outline of lecture

This course discusses various methods to evaluate effectiveness of the passive control dampers and building framing schemes.

Characteristics of four main types of dampers are explained. Design and analytical methods for three types of framing systems having distinct architectural features, damper connecting schemes, as well as control efficiencies are explained.

Topics are as follows:

1.Fundamental Theory on Passive Control.
2.Mechanical Characteristics of Dampers
3.Framing Systems and Their Control Efficiencies
4.Analytical Methods for Passive Control Dampers and Systems
5.Design Methods for Passive Control Dampers and Systems
