Outline of lecture

The aim of this course is to learn basic knowledge of brain science to understand neural and physiological processes. In 2008, the class contained three lectures about psychophysiology, medical imaging technology, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In 2009, the class will focus on the history of psychology and brain science in psychological area. Prof. Hackley of University of Missouri will introduce how psychology has investigated about mind and brain. The lecture will be given for students who seldom have chances to learn about brain and psychology.

Plan of lecture

An inevitable accident has prevented us from providing the service that the students with registration are expecting by right. Unfortunately, the business trip of the lecturer, Prof. Steven Hackley has been canceled because of the epidemic of the H1N1 flu and out of time we were unable to find an appropriate replacement for him. This class had been settled following an exceptional schedule that was convenient for Prof. Hackley. Under such circumstances, we were forced to change the menu of the class and have decided to provide only to the students with registration a short preliminary seminar and a practice to learn how to treat the devices of electroencephalography, which are the following.

No textbook is required.

Related and/or prerequisite courses

"Embodied Economics and Brain" is included in a lecture series of "Embodied Economics" with "Embodied Economics and Cognition", 窶廢mbodied Economics and Language窶 (these two will be held in the autumn semester). It is also related to the course "Human Economic Science by Matlab (SPM)", which provides software trainings necessary for the analysis of brain image (every Monday, 15:00-16:30, spring semester).

No special knowledge on the brain is required.
