講義概要

By taking this course, students can expect to deepen their understanding of major evaluation theories, their historical background and their application in the field of international development. They can also expect to acquire basic evaluation skills through the use of case studies, performing meta-evaluation and creating evaluation proposals.

Objectives: By taking this course, students are expected to deepen their understanding of major evaluation theories, their historical background and their application in the field of international cooperation and science & technology from international perspective. They can also expect to acquire basic evaluation skills through performing evaluation of their chosen topics or meta-evaluation of the existing evaluation reports.

教科書・参考書等

Teaching Materials and presentation requirement:
There is no specific text for this course. Some references will be introduced during the course. In the last part of the course, class participants are expected to present on one of the followings: 'Meta-evaluation of an existing evaluation report' or 'Report of an evaluation survey'. Students are divided into groups, choose a subject, conduct a survey or analysis and make a presentation. Nowadays, many evaluation reports are available online.

Conditions for taking this course: Participating students are expected to have a good command of English since the lectures, presentations and discussions are conducted in English.

成績評価

class attendance, positive participation in the case study work and discussion (50%), presentation and report (50%)
