講義概要
By taking this course, students can expect to deepen their understanding of major evaluation theories, their historical background and their application in the field of international development. They can also expect to acquire basic evaluation skills through the use of case studies, performing meta-evaluation and creating evaluation proposals.

They can also expect to acquire basic evaluation skills through case studies, conducting meta-evaluation or evaluation survey themselves.
このコースでは、主要な評価理論と歴史的背景、国際開発分野における評価の適用に関して理解を深めると共に、ケーススタディ、メタ評価または評価調査の実施を通じて、基礎的な評価スキルの習得を目指す。
講義計画
1. Outline of the course. Introduction of the basic concepts of evaluation and its application to international development programs/projects. (コースの概要。評価の基本的な考え方の紹介。国際開発プログラム/プロジェクトでの評価活用例)
2. Historical background of evaluation. Major evaluation theories. (評価の歴史的背景、主な評価理論)
3. Monitoring and evaluation utilizing a logical framework, its basic concept and methodology (ロジカル・フレームワークを使ったモニタリングと評価、その基本的考え方と方法)
4. Creating a logical framework (case study) （ケーススタディ：ロジカル・フレームワークの作成)
5. Result based management and evaluation, basic concept and methodology (結果重視のマネージメントと評価、その基本的考え方と方法)

Teaching Materials and presentation requirement:
There is no specific text for this course. Some references will be introduced during the course. In the last part of the course, class participants are expected to present on one of the followings: ‘Meta-evaluation of an existing evaluation report’ or ‘Report of an evaluation survey’. Students are divided into groups, choose a subject, conduct a survey or analysis and make a presentation. Nowadays, many evaluation reports are available online.
教材と発表要件：テキストは指定せず、コース中に参考文献を紹介する。コースの最後の部分で、参加者は「既存の評価報告書のメタ評価」または「簡単な評価調査の報告」のいずれかについて発表を行う。最近、多くの組織は評価レポートを公表しており、ウェブサイトから入手できるものも多い。

Conditions for taking this course: Participating students are expected to have a good command of English since the lectures, presentations and discussions are conducted in English.
このコースが英語で開講される場合には、講義、発表、討論が英語で行われるため、参加学生は十分な英語力を有することが望まれる。
