Outline of lecture

Ultrasonic wave techniques are used for evaluating aging degradation and detecting damages in materials used for structures or machines.
In this lecture, principle of the ultrasonic testing, ultrasonic tester and analysis method for detected ultrasonic waves are explained. Simple experimental setup for ultrasonic testing is developed and ultrasonic testing is conducted. Detected waves are analyzed by using several signal processing methods and conduct group discussion. After that, the method for constructing ultrasonic imaging is explained. Student conduct group work and construct ultrasonic images by using ultrasonic time-series data.

Purpose of lecture

Learn the principles of an ultrasonic testing and constructing ultrasonic images. Above topics are deeply understood through an experiment and group discussion.
