Outline of lecture

This class is an introduction to design methods for human-centered innovation.

Topics include :
- idea generation/creativity techniques
- user-centered development/testing methods
- kansei engineering approach
- product representation/prototyping tools.

Several real-life examples of manufactured products will be analyzed and commented from a design viewpoint.

Purpose of lecture

In this class, the students will :
- develop an understanding of the design process of a new product
- improve their ability to identify a design problem
- learn creative-thinking techniques
- learn methods for collecting users' needs and for conducting user tests
- appreciate how design activities can impact people, society and environment

Plan of lecture

The course is a mix of lectures and design workshops.
