This is designed to be a very student centered/interactive class with students discussing and debating various topics. New vocabulary and grammar will be routinely introduced to enable students to articulate ideas more clearly and to facilitate discussion.
It is hoped that by the end of the session, students will have enhanced their fluency by strengthening their vocabulary, listening skills, and perhaps most importantly, their confidence. The emphasis will be on the students expressing their opinions and ideas clearly and accurately.
The students will practice their verbal skills by engaging in guided discussion and informal debates.Feedback will be given and ways to improve language skills will be discussed and practiced
Week 1- introduction: With the assistance of handouts, students will introduce themselves to their classmates. Appropriate English vocabulary and expressions will be taught. Everyday greetings will also be taught and reinforced through role-playing and fluency exercises. Pair and group work will be utilized.
Week 2- Education: Appropriate “Education/school” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.
Conversation questions (handouts) regarding “Education” will be incorporated into pair work. Students will have a chance to reinforce their new English through role-playing.
Week 3- Food: Appropriate “Food” vocabulary and expressions will be taught. Conversation questions (handouts) regarding “Food” will be incorporated into pair work. Students will have a chance to reinforce their new English with role-playing.
Week 4- Travel: Appropriate “travel” vocabulary and expressions will be taught
and reinforced through role-playing and fluency exercises (using handouts).
Week 5- Family: Appropriate “Family” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.

Week 6-Health: Appropriate “Health” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.

Week 7- Sports: Appropriate “Sports” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.

Week 8-Shopping: Appropriate “Shopping” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.

Week 9-Japan: Appropriate “Japan” vocabulary and expressions will be taught.
