Outline of lecture

In this course the students can experience individual and collective art making for a concrete situation - the stage design for the dance-theater-course of Ito Naoko-sensei, performed at 14th of January 2015. The first half of the course will be an introduction into 3-dimensional art and stage-design, lecture and practice, with many different exercises, diverse materials and approaches and discussions. In the latter half a stage design will be created, in individual and group work, parallely to and in ongoing communication with the theater-group. The students who want to join the course should be willing to observe the theater rehearsals a few times (in Dec.) to understand the concrete process, the topic and the atmosphere of the performance.
Eligible students should have joined already the Modern Art Workshop A or B or the Advanced Art Workshop A or B.

Purpose of lecture

The students can increase their imaginative and creative power and by producing artworks for a specific purpose. They can achieve complex knowledge about color, materials, space, theater, communication and the creative process of artmaking, individually and in a group.
