The topic of the Modern Art Workshop B will be "The Human Face".The face is the most familiar and most expressive part of the human being. In all centuries and all cultures artists tried to express the fascination and the secret of the human face, up to today. During the course, in the morning lectures, I will introduce different approaches of portrait and self-portrait in the Western art with a host of visual materials. During the afternoons the students will produce portraits and also self-portraits, learning how to express themselves in diverse materials and techniques. The works of the students will be presented in a group exhibition.

The students have the chance to gain fundamental knowledge about Western artists and important tendencies in the art. They will achieve practical knowledge, mainly in painting and drawing, using diverse materials and technics and expressing themselves in different creative approaches.

The class meets on four Saturdays, October 19 / 26 , November 2/9, from 10.30 to 17.30 (lunch break included)
- Schedule
1) 19th of October
"Portrait on the Public Stage"
Diego Velazquez, Francisco Goya, Gerhard Richter
In the workshop the students will produce drawings and paintings in connection with photography.
2) 26th of October
"Looking into One`s Own Face - Self-Portrait"
The students will draw and paint several self-portraits, using a mirror and experimenting with different technics.
3) 2nd of November
"The Secret of the Inner Face"
Johannes Vermeer, Gerhard Richter and others
The students will explore the possibilities of portrait by using a living model.
4) 9th of November
"The Third Dimension"
Auguste Rodin, Medardo Rosso
The students will model a sculpture of a head, using clay.
